Consequences of combining some medications

Success stories

Conseqüències de la combinació d'alguns medicaments

Some medications prescribed for systemic conditions or diseases (such as antidepressants, diuretics, Parkinson’s disease medications, beta-blockers, and inhalers) can reduce salivary flow, causing what we call Xerostomia (dry mouth).

Good salivary flow helps us reduce the population of bacteria in the mouth as well as the remineralization process of tooth enamel.

So much so that the lack of saliva significantly increases the risk of cavities and periodontal disease.

It is very important to inform your dentist about any medication you are taking.

The patient arrived at the consultation with this aforementioned impact in a very advanced state, with great destruction of dental tissue and recurrent caries.

Visits to the dentist were constant, always detecting new foci.

We considered rehabilitation with dental implants and prostheses as the best option.

Now, the patient maintains very good dental prosthetics, with regular maintenance visits to the office.

It has improved in aesthetic function and quality of life.
