Brush or floss: what should we use first in our oral hygiene?
It is important that we do interdental hygiene once a day, either with floss or interproximal brushes. The order of the factors does not alter the product… or does it?
Both the toothbrush and the floss or interproximal brushes are strictly necessary to keep bacterial plaque at bay.
But in what order should we use them?
First the brush and then the floss, just the opposite or is it totally indifferent?
Now we will dispel your doubts!
You already know that bacterial plaque is created between teeth that the brush cannot remove.
That is why it is important that we also do interdental hygiene once a day, either with floss or interproximal brushes.
The first is ideal if your teeth are closely spaced; and the second, if you have wider interdental spaces.
If you are one of those who perform interdental hygiene after brushing your teeth, you may be interested in changing the order from now on… According to a study conducted by the Mahshad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS) and published in the Journal of Periodontology, it is preferable to use floss or interproximal brushes first and then the toothbrush, since this way the reduction of bacterial plaque is significantly more effective and, in addition, the fluoride concentration is increased.
Therefore, if you want to achieve extra effectiveness in your oral hygiene, start with interdental hygiene!
