We love summer.
The days are getting longer and we have more hours to do what we like.
But also, our mouths get overloaded with work because these are days of not stopping at home, snacking between meals and some kind of excess…
For this reason, we have compiled 5 practical tips that will help you keep your smile intact during the summer holidays.

Not without your toothbrush. Obvious, right?
But we’re not just referring to taking your toothbrush with you when you travel, but to always carrying it with you, in your bag or backpack, even if you don’t plan on traveling.
Summer is very conducive to improvisation and there are many days when we end up eating or sleeping away from home without having planned it.
Carrying the brush around is not a burden, there are travel-sized ones, with a reduced volume, and you don’t even need toothpaste or mouthwash.
What really cleans the bacteria is the action of a good brushing. You don’t need anything else!
Well, if you add dental floss, we’ll give you an honorary degree.

Do you eat out?
If you’ve ignored our first tip and your friends have tricked you and you’ve ended up eating out, we still have some options to alleviate it: eat foods with fiber, such as carrots or apples, which clean your teeth when you chew them; finish your meals with foods that help neutralize the acidity of your mouth, such as cheese; and chew sugar-free gum with xylitol, which helps generate more saliva and, therefore, protects our enamel.
Also try to avoid very sweet or very salty snacks or refreshments as much as possible.
Although all these tips are useful, they do not replace a toothbrush or dental floss!

Moisturizing your lips is not coquetry. Whether you are a man or a woman, keeping our lips hydrated and protected with a sunscreen is not a matter of coquetry, but of health.
Doing so helps us prevent cancer in this part of the mouth.
On the other hand, always keep your mouth hydrated since dry mouth makes us prone to infections and inflammation.

Control excesses We’re not just talking about alcoholic drinks, but also energy or isotonic drinks, coffee, tobacco, processed products with sugars… All of these substances can affect and yellow tooth enamel.
Furthermore, smoking decreases salivary flow, contributes to the appearance of stains and even increases the risk of cavities, gingivitis and cancer.
Therefore, leave all this aside or minimize its consumption as much as possible.

Be careful with the blows!
In the summer we must be especially careful with dental trauma as they increase by 30%.
It is highly recommended to use mouthguards when practicing sports activities and a full-face helmet when traveling on a two-wheeled vehicle.
