{"id":3568,"date":"2017-11-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-11-28T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/clinicacervera.es\/actualitat\/orthodontic-cases-in-open-bites\/"},"modified":"2017-11-29T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-11-28T22:00:00","slug":"orthodontic-cases-in-open-bites","status":"publish","type":"actualitat","link":"https:\/\/clinicacervera.es\/en\/news\/orthodontic-cases-in-open-bites\/","title":{"rendered":"Orthodontic cases in open bites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Orthodontic cases in open bites Results in child and adolescent patients treated by doctors Tall\u00f3 and Trib\u00f3 of Cl\u00ednica Cervera If our teeth do not fit well when closing the jaw, something is wrong.<\/p>\n<p>We call this problem malocclusion and, if not treated correctly, it could cause more serious skeletal and muscular problems.<\/p>\n<p>In this sense, the most common pathologies are open bite and cross bite.<\/p>\n<p>There are different methods to deal with these problems.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most used is orthodontics.<\/p>\n<p>And, as an example, we show you some results from the cases of child and adolescent patients treated by our doctors Tall\u00f3 and Trib\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Open bite When, when biting, the upper teeth do not come into contact with the lower ones, but a space is created between them, we speak of an open bite.<\/p>\n<p>If, in addition, the upper teeth are not in front of the lower ones, we are dealing with an anterior crossbite or class III.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, open bite can result from some childhood habits, such as excessive use of pacifiers or thumb sucking.<\/p>\n<p>Case 1 This patient had an anterior open bite, in addition to a right crossbite due to a narrow palate.<\/p>\n<p>When closing the mouth, the front teeth did not come into contact with each other and the upper molars on the right side were inside the lower ones.<\/p>\n<p>This was the cause of an asymmetrical smile, as the chin was deviated to the right.<\/p>\n<p>Once the first phase of treatment was completed, the bite was closed and straightened.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the patient can now have a symmetrical smile.<\/p>\n<p>It is advisable to treat these bone growth problems in childhood, before this growth stage ends.<\/p>\n<p>In this way, more complex treatments and future surgeries are avoided.<\/p>\n<p>Case 2 Before starting treatment, the patient had a class II, due to deficient growth of the jaw.<\/p>\n<p>There was deficient anteroposterior growth (from front to back) of the jaw, a contraction of the palate in its anterior part and a greatly increased deficiency between the upper and lower incisors that made lip closure impossible.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, there was a lack of space for correct alignment of the teeth.<\/p>\n<p>During the first six months of treatment, skeletal correction was carried out by stimulating mandibular growth and expanding the maxilla.<\/p>\n<p>In these cases, the patient&#8217;s age is vital, since it is essential that there is still active growth, although starting treatment at an early age could extend its duration.<\/p>\n<p>Once bone correction was achieved, the remaining treatment was simplified.<\/p>\n<p>After a year and a half with fixed orthodontics, the teeth in the upper arch closed perfectly in relation to the teeth in the lower arch.<\/p>\n<p>Case 3 In the profile photographs taken prior to treatment, it can be seen that this patient&#8217;s chin and lower jaw are well behind the maxilla and upper jaw.<\/p>\n<p>This is due to a deficiency in the growth of the mandibular bone.<\/p>\n<p>To solve the problem, only orthodontic treatment has been used.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the patient&#8217;s upper and lower teeth fit together perfectly.<\/p>\n<p>And the position of the chin has also been corrected.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":3569,"template":"","categoria":[73],"class_list":["post-3568","actualitat","type-actualitat","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria-tractaments"],"meta_box":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/clinicacervera.es\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/actualitat\/3568","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/clinicacervera.es\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/actualitat"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/clinicacervera.es\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/actualitat"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/clinicacervera.es\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/clinicacervera.es\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/3569"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/clinicacervera.es\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3568"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"categoria","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/clinicacervera.es\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categoria?post=3568"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
