It is an area that, despite being protected by dentin and enamel, remains vulnerable to damage and infection.<\/p>\n
There are numerous elements that can cause the pulp to become inflamed or irritated, but above all one: tooth decay.<\/p>\n
An untreated caries lesion is full of bacteria that metabolize food debris and sugars into acids that, in turn, penetrate the tooth tissues until they reach the pulp and damage it.<\/p>\n

The intensity can be mild, moderate or intense depending on the degree of development of the pulpitis.<\/p>\n

The area may be swollen and red.<\/p>\n
The pulp of the tooth can erupt – in the most advanced cases – revealing a pink or reddish mass in the tooth cavity.<\/p>\n
Caries tends to be the most common cause of pulpitis; but it is not the only one.<\/p>\n
It can also have its origin in: Trauma that has reached the dentin.<\/p>\n
Very advanced bruxism.<\/p>\n
Closure in poor condition.<\/p>\n
Untreated periodontal infections or diseases.<\/p>\n
Tooth sensitivity.<\/p>\n
Treatments for pulpitis Depending on what caused the pulpitis, your dentist will opt for one treatment or another.<\/p>\n
But in all cases, the first thing to do will be to treat the cause that caused the pulpitis.<\/p>\n
The dentist will prescribe analgesics and anti-inflammatories to relieve pain and inflammation.<\/p>\n
If necessary, in the event of infection, antibiotic treatment would also be indicated.<\/p>\n
When it originates from caries, the treatment will be a filling (filling) or the reconstruction of the piece.<\/p>\n
And in cases where the infection is widespread and the pulp is very damaged, it could lead to endodontics to remove the affected dental pulp.<\/p>\n
Prevention is essential to detect pulpitis in time; or what would be the same: maintain adequate oral hygiene and make regular visits to your dentist.<\/p>\n
